Born to Ride

Day 347:

Today was a REALLY long day, Conor.  Making our way from Beaufort, SC to Fairfax, VA, a little better than 500 miles, and in traffic as thick as Thanksgiving turkey gravy...  A few detours aside, including about 60 miles in the Northeastern part of North Carolina to avoid some heavy traffic along I-95, the entire ride was a little better than 11 hours.   Now of course, that includes several stops for lunch and to stretch our legs, though still, a long day.   And through it all, you were absolutely amazing, Son!

All that time in the car seat and you never even so much as fussed.  To say that I'm impressed with you would absolutely be an understatement.  And when we did take you from your car seat, rather than fuss  a lick, all you did was smile and laugh!  Just happy as you could be to be going along for the ride.  Remarkable, Son.

When we finally made it home it was like a chinese fire drill, Boy'O... Jump out of the truck, unload you, unload the dogs, unload the trailer, drop everything in the house, spin back around and take the trailer back to Sterling, VA, just a busy, busy time!  By the time I'd finally gotten home, you were in bed and on your way to a deep sleep and all I could do was make a turkey sandwich and watch a few minutes of the game.

I'm tired, Son!  But so impressed with you, Conor...  You are a travel warrior!  And not even 1 year old yet!  You're going to do epic stuff in this life, Boy'O.  And I know I'm only ever going to be even more and more impressed...

I love you, Conor.
