A Day of Peace

Day 108:

Conor, today was a day of anticipation... Anticipation for the end of the 1st quarter - an exceptionally busy time in my chosen profession- and a hope for a calm and peaceful weekend...  Turns out that while your MeMeow and Aunt Mag have been in NoVA to take care of you they were all but insistent your Mommy and me go out for the night - adult time.  Almost begrudgingly we went...  Turns out Mommy had a friend, Cheryl, whose birthday was tonight and would lead us to get together with some seldom seen friends for a cocktail or two and some great food.

It was a fine night, despite missing you so.  This would be the first night not spent with you since the day you came home from the NICU.  Bittersweet indeed.

As we adjust to the changes that come with the care of you, our most spectacular creation, the things that were once important - social visits and nights out with friends - both distant and close, don't really matter any longer.  And I'd often wonder if that would ever be the case...  Though now I know.

I love you, Son.  See you in the morning...
-Dad
