A Pretty Good Day

Day 101:

Friday's are always good, Boy'O. Especially now. Friday's used to be the start of a weekend of friends and cocktails, travels and sights, maybe even an opportunity to get out and try a new restaurant or perhaps hit up one of the same old haunts... These days, Friday means much, much more, Conor. Friday now holds the promise of more time with you through the weekend! Perhaps a bottle at 5:30am with a morning coffee and a review of the news on my handheld while you drift back to sleep in my lap. And perhaps a bit later in the morning I'll nod back off myself with you lying on my chest. I'll tell you, Son, it damn sure beats work. Being with you is a gift that never gets old.

Today was especially good, Conor. It was a balmy 80 degrees - again a rarity for March. Friday's are typically pretty casual in an office environment so when the perfect storm of warm and sunny weather on a Friday filled with the promise of the weekend comes along, you can bet I'm gonna throw on some jeans and boots, fire up my Harley, and make my day that much better. So that's what I did. My ride to work is about 40 minutes which, for me, is not quite the ride I LOVE, but I'll take it. Surely I enjoy a much longer ride -it's where I do my best thinking- but these days long rides aren't on the menu. So like I said, I'll take what I can get. Anyhow, riding to work this morning, to Falls Church City to meet friends for lunch, and then riding home to see your smiling face? Well let's just say I could have done worse!

Once home I cleaned up and agreed to take Mommy and MeMeow out to dinner to enjoy a bit more of the fine weather, so we all sat on the porch at Uncle Julio's and enjoyed margaritas and good Mexican food. We'll call it the cheery on top. But to make the evening even better, our good friends Jaime and Mike, and their kids Hayden and Keegan, came to visit on the patio! It turned into several hours of good cocktails and better conversation. A pretty good Friday indeed...

That's all for tonight good Sir Lion Heart. It was fun to get you out and about in this great weather, and now it's time for you to rest up.

'Cuz like I said, I'll be feeding you to the sunrise come morning... And I can't wait.

I love you, Boy'O.
-Dad
