The Party is Coming to You...
Day 88:
Well Boy'O, they're all here. Family from all over the country! They're here to meet you, see you, adore you, and celebrate your Baptism. Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Kentucky, Delaware, and of course, South Carolina!! Seemingly EVERYWHERE! And all for you, Boy'O.
It was a team effort today son. Your Aunt Dar Dar and Grandma MeMeow did the flowers, your Aunt Mag was doing the hemming on your Christening outfit, Mommy was running around getting everything together, and I was running errands. It was a busy day. Though a busy day that culminated with everybody, on the order of 35 family members, getting together to have cocktails and talk about old times... Family is be amazing, Son. Family doesn't dissuade feelings for those within it. Family doesn't judge, though they hold opinions and aren't afraid to tell you what they are. And though I've not really identified much with my extended family in the last 20 or so years, to be sure they've always been apart of my life. Though since I've been an adult it's all been so much at a distance... Even my Brother and Sister who've moved 9 hours away. It doesn't change the way I feel about any of them, but it certainly changed my perspective on the closeness of family... That is until there's a baby in the mix. Nothing brings a family together like a baby, Son. Nothing brings family together like the Lion Heart.
The night is winding down and you're sound asleep, Boy'O. It was the worlds best game of "Pass the Baby" for a while there... You must have wound up in 20 different people's arms tonight, Son. And they all find you as beautiful as the setting sun and the rising moon. A moon that, on this night, is as spectacular as any.
Tomorrow's your Christening. The blessing of an croĆ Lion... The grace of God bestowed unto my Son... And I can't wait.
I love you, Conor.
-Dad
