Finding Care for the Lion Heart
Day 92:
Today was a day long anticipated day, Conor. Today would be the day Mommy and me would meet with who'll care for you while we resume our professional duties full time... In fact, the woman who'll care for you is quite intriguing. The daycare is based in Vienna, VA; just on my way to work, so where convenience is concerned we hit the mark. But of the 401 factors that go into selecting child care for our only Son, convenience is the four-hundred-and-first. Having said that, she's a Filipino woman married to a Mexican man who's been in the business of child care her entire adult life. She speaks fluent Spanish, Filipino, sign language, and of course, English. After an hour long conversation about the care you'll be receiving and in the company of how many children (no more than 12 - all under the age of 2.5), hours of operation and work habits, feeding schedules, play times, and parental expectations, a decision was made! Mrs. Zeny would be your caregiver as well as your 1st teacher. I'm very much looking forward to building upon the multilingual foundation she can provide for you at such an early age. And sure, I know a fair bit of Spanish and could get by were I in any Spanish speaking situation, but I don't know a lick of Tagalog, so there may be a Rosetta Stone purchase in my future!
To be sure the first trip to the daycare of the Lion Heart will be difficult, though as I've said before- all things work out exactly as they're supposed to and I do believe this experience will be no different. Again, for any parents reading this you're probably thinking "Oh give it a rest already! It's only daycare!" and that may be true, but think of the first time you dropped your kid off with somebody who's licensed, bonded, and insured, but NOT a family member! It's kinda heavy!
Never the less, I believe you'll be in good hands, Boy'O. I have to believe. Mommy too... And without question, you'll show them a thing or two also. You're Conor an chroĆ Lion after all...
That's all for tonight, Kiddo.
I love you more and more every minute of every day.
-Dad
